Most people think of warehouses as large mundane buildings with lots of racks to store products. Not terribly interesting, and merely a sideline to day-to-day business operations.
Nothing could be further from the truth at G&C. Our Syracuse-based, state-of-the-art warehouse is an integral part of an overall company business strategy. With a hopping hub of shipping and receiving that serves our customers with over 4000 items nearly everyday of the year.
Dozens of daily workers in the G&C warehouse are equipped with the latest in material handling equipment and warehouse management systems. Incoming loads are scanned, then organized by location and date, and stored in wide aisle shelving.
Computer monitored temperatures keep millions of pounds of food in perfect condition before they are shipped to customers. Once en route, satellite tracking and communication with our fleet of modern trucks gives an advantage in delivering products on time and in great shape.
And in the rare event of power outage, we're prepared with a massive backup generator to keep the entire facility running. These are just a few of the things that make a difference in the service we offer.
HACCP - Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
G&C Foods complies with HACCP, a USDA/FDA developed program designed to address food safety and safe handling concerns in food related industries. HACCP practices extend throughout the food supply chain, from harvest to the consumer table, making sure that safe and wholesome products are delivered under strict independent government guidelines.
Though compliance with HACCP is voluntary, we think it’s the smart thing to do. So we do it.
Custom Regulated Temperature Control
Part of HACCP compliance involves regulation and control of product and storage temperatures in various areas of the warehouse.
With this kind of attention to detail, boxed beef is just the right temperature, frozen foods are free of freezer burn, cheeses are cool and entrees frozen solid. That's the way it should be.
Split Box Program
To meet the varied needs of our customers, we have a USDA piece room to offer more choice, and comply with strict government regulations.
Master cases of beef and pork are re-packed into smaller boxes that are more manageable for an end user. An extensive line of popular items are regularly stocked and available for immediate purchase, including Choice & Select Rib Eyes, Strips, and two Piece PSMOS.
Items are also available for custom packing by customer request.
